Forked River Nuclear Station Docket No. 50-363 Licensing No. CPPR-96 Inspection No. 80-02 This letter is to provide you with the present status of the soll erosion and stabilization ef forts being undertaken at Farked River Site in response to the subject NRC inspection of December 1980. Below is a listing, by area, of the progress made thus far and scheduled plans of action for the areas designated in the inspection report and the Notice of Violation:

1.

Dredge spoil slope north of the firepond and south of sediment basin #3:

applicatloas for New Jersey De,;artment of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Stream Encroachment Permit and Ocean County Soil Conservation Dis;rict Per iait have been submitted wi*h detailed soil stabilization plans. Approval is expected shoitly; 2.

Barge unloading facility:

applications are being made to the Arm, Corps of Engineers and the NJDEP for approval to perfora slope stabilization and erosion control work.

Approval is expected by late 1981; 3.

Oyster Creek banks between the South Access Road and the discharge canal:

during 1982, this arer wi i i be stabilized.

Dosign efforts will be initiated shortly; 4.

West of the Energy Spectrum and north of sedimeniation 5asin #2:

design efforts have been completed.

Wor k is scheduled to begin in 1982.

Proposed natural r,r af t cooling tower site:

area has been stab i l i zed w i th a <;over of weep i ng lovegrass and sericea lespedeza planted in May '981.

The backfiII stockplle:

due to soii characteristics, this area is subject to limited wind erosion. A crust forms on the soll surface which, unless disturbed, prevents significant soil losses. the northern perimeter, which was previously lined with haybales, will be lined again with new haybales as soon as pussible.

Due to the financial dif ficulties at The present time, we are unab le to comp lei e or initiate any of these proj ects during 1981.

It is anticipated that during 1982, we will be able to proceed with these projects.
