Turbine Disc Inspection Program

Dear Sir:

This letter is in response to your request in Reference (b) the a

commit to using the Westinghouse criteria for establishing a low pr t jre turbine disc inspection schedule. We wish to inform you that during the 1982 refueling outage, the exis ting low pressure turbine rotor will be replaced with a new rotor. The first three discs for this new rotor will be integrally forged with the rotor. Since these discs represent the discs of primary concern considering the disc cracking phenomenon and will not contain keyway or bore area passages, an inspection schedule based on the above criteria is not necessary. An inspection schedule for the remaining new discs, however, will be in accordanca with the recommended criteria.
