Dear Mr. Engelken:
Subj ect:
Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 & 3 In a letter to your office dated September 10, 1981 we identified a condition which we considered potentially reportable in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e).
The condition involves possible use of General Electric HEA relays which have been reported by GE as failing to operate when the I
trip solenoid is energized.
l An inspection of GE HEA relays installed in San Onofre Units 2 and 3 has established that no relays bearing the date code given in the GE Service Advice letter have been utilized.
No significant deficiency exists in San Onofre Units 2 and 3 relative to the condition reported by GE.
If you have any questions regarding this matter we would be pleased to discuss them with you at your convenience.
E5 Very truly yours,
]
