Conditicas Prior to Occurrence - Plant in Cold Shutdown Condition 1

Description of Occurrence - A vater leak was found in pressure switch 1G11F and tesca.2g indicated sluggish response to test i
pressure changes during annual surveillance testing.

Desigration of Cause - Plant investigation has not detemined the causr. of the failure. The defective pressu*e "vitch vill be re-turned to the manufacturer for further detailed investigation.

Analysis of Occurrence - Pressure switch 1G11F is one of two switches which provide backup core spray valve openi::g signals when reactor pressure falls below 200 psig sinultaneous with low reactor water level. The switch vas found in the tripped condition (closed-safe) but testing indicated that it could not be relied upon to operate in proper fashion.
No problems were found with its backup switch. The backup core spray systen is one of two systens that would satisfy core spray requirements if called for and in view of these redundancice, it is felt that no undue hazards existed due to this situaticn.

Corrective Action - The switch vill be replaced prior to the time when the systen operability is required per the Technical Specifi-cations.
