Dear Mr Grossman,
We have heard that your Commission started pr.blic hearings again about two months ago and taking this opportunity we are very much willing to submit this written petition to you for the early restart of GEIR.
Our company Daiichi Radioisotope Laborstories, Ltd. is a joint venture between Mallinckrodt, Inc. located in St. Louis and Daiichi Seiyaku Co.,
Ltd., one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in Japan, and has been engaged in the manufacture and sale of diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals since the co-pany's inauguration in 1968.
Among all our products Tc-99m generator is the top priority item in respect of the diagnostic importance and of our supply to nost hospitals in Japan facilitated with necessary isotope equirw ats.
For production of this generator we had long been using molybdenum-99 supplie8 from General Electric until October 1977 when the General Electric TestReactor(GETR)wastemporarilysuspendedbyyourCommissionbecause of a question as to the existence and location of a seismic fsult in the vicinity of the Center.
Although we have been purchasing molybdenum-99 from a certain source since the shutdown of GETR, we are still in favor of molybdenum-99 from General Electric due to the major advantages stated below.
(1) Molybdenum-99 of General Electric is of very superior and stable quality.

10-5. NIHON B ASHI 3-CHOM E CHUO-KU. TC KYO 103 JAPAN To: Mr. Grossman P. 2 July 20, 1981 (2) The shipment of molybdenum-99 from General Electric is very stable and General Electric offers a very quick, considerate and experienced action whenever any problem as to quality, shipment etc. takes place.
(3) General Electric is in a position to supply both neutron and fission molybdenum-99, and this supply flexibility allows us to select the type of molybdet 2-99 depending upon our real need.
Under such circurastances, we are wholeheartedly hoping tat GETP.
operations shall be resumed as sviftly as possible.
Wishing your cordial attention to the above, we remain, with best regards, Yours faithfully, v
