Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
This is in regard to your February 25, 1981 letter (Generic Letter 81-04) concerning procedures and training for station blackout events. Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) submittc3 a response for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 on June 1, 1981.
At that time, CP&L had hoped to complete the necessary effort within the requested six-month perich However, this has not 'veen possible due to recent outage-related prierities.
On July 7,1991, during startup from an outage, Brunswick Unit No. 1 suffered damage to turbine bearings which will require about three months to repair. During this period, plant personnel have been and will be utilizing the available. 4tage time to concentrate on work which cannot be performed while the unit is operating. As a result of these short term efforts, CP&L has rescheduled completion of the NRC requests from Generic Letter 81-04 until December 31, 1981.
