Attached please find a copy of the Engineer's Interim Report of a potential 10CFR50.55(e) concerning structural steel at the WNP-3 and 5 Site.
The Engineer states in this interim report that the final report to the Supply System is anticipated October 31, 1981. We will provide the fiaal report to the NRC by November 15, 1981.

I INTERIM REPORT l
Structural Steel Connections - Units 3 and 5 DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM J
As required by Corrective Action Request, Morrison-Knudsen performed. a 100% visual inspection and torque testing program on all accessible bolted connections in Units 3 & 5.
This inspection revealed both do-cumentation and potential hardware nonconformances. As a result. NCRs were initiated.
Notification to the NRC was made on letters G03-81-503, dated February 19, 1981 and G03-81-1027, dated May 7, 1981.
APPROACH TO THE RESOLUTION OF PROBLEf1 i
M-K was requested by Ebasco to perform a statistical analysis on the results obtained from the torque tests. The requested report was issued to Ebasco until July 16, 1981. A review of this report by Ebasco identi-ficd several minor inconsistencies and errors. This report will be used by Ebasco's Civil Engineering Department to determine the potential im-pact on the structural capacity of the connections.
STATUS OF PROPOSED RESOLUTION j
Ebasco is in the process of reviewing the statistical analysis report and analyzing the potential impact on the structural capacity of the connections.
REASONS FOR DELAY IN ISSUANCE OF THE FINAL REPORT

M-K's statistical analysis report was issued to Ebasco until July 16, 1981.
- 2) The analysis by Ebasco is a complicated and time consumiro process.
