Telephone Conversation between J. Eckhardt and J. E. Cook on July 15, 1981
Dear Sir:
The NRC was notified of a potentially reportable deficiency in the referenced telephone conversation. At that time, it was estimated that a determination of reportability would be made within thirty (30) days.
Due to the extensive investigation and evaluation required, an Interim Report is attached. It is now expected that this information will be finalized by October 30, 1981, at which time a complete report will be submitted.

INTEREH REPORT - DER 81-22 POTENTIAL REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY ART'ONA PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY (APS)
PVNGS UNITS 1 AND 2 4
I.
Por-. 1 Problem I
Amerace Corporation has identified a premature time-out condition with Agastat Model 7012D Pneumatic Timing Relays date coded 7740 through 7840. Bechtel's Supplier Quality Information Bulletin (SQIB) 80-5, Revision 1, includes all Model 7000 Series Timers in their surveillance inspection effort. PVNGS jobsite quality assurance conducted a surveillance of Units 1 and 2 Diesel Generator Control l
Panels 1-J-DGA<B01, 1-J-DGB-B01, 2-J-DGA-B01 and 2-J-DGB-B01.
A total of nineteen (19) timing relays with the suspect date codes were recorded. These include Models 7012 and 7022.
Additional surveillance activity so far has indicated this problem is limited to the equipment supplied by Cooper Energy Services as part of the Diesel Generator Purchase Order 13-MH-l 018.
