Dear Mr. Grier:
Your April 9,1981 I. E.Bulletin 81-02 requested Niagara Mohawk to determine if certain gate type valves will be used or maintained as sparos for use in safety related systems at Nine Mile Point Unit 2.
Our July 2,1981 response indicated that although none of the valves identified in the Bulletin were being purchased for safety related systems in the balance of plant scope, the review of the nuclear steam supply system equipment had not been completed.
The review of the nuclear steam supply system essential component records has now been completed by the vendor. We have been advised that this review found that none of the valves identified in the Bulletin are used in our nuclear steam supply system vendor's scope of supply for Unit 2.
Per your request, in addition to the twelve (12) manhours spent on our July 2,1981 response to this Bulletin an additional fourteen (la) manhours have been spent in the review and preparation of this response to Bulletin 81 -0 2.
