SUPPORTS AND ANCHORAGE OF ELECTRICAL EQUlPMENT_ IDENTIFIED AS NOT MEETING SEISMIC REQUIREMENTS (UPDATE)
As a result of continuing equipment installation reviews per NRR Generic Letter 81-14 dated February 10, 1981, the licensee determined on August 17, 1981, at 3:15 p.m.
(EDT) that the supports and anchorage for four additional 600 volt switchgear sections in both Unit I and Unit 2 do not meet seismic requirements.
The equipment was declared inoperable and Technical Specifications require shut-down within 8 hours9.259259e-5 days <br />0.00222 hours <br />1.322751e-5 weeks <br />3.044e-6 months <br />. A Technical Specification waiver is being re o cced from NRR similar to that issued on August 14, 1981. The licensee anticipates that temporary repairs can be effected before substantial power reductions are required.
The resident inspectors are at the site observing the licensee's action.
Neither the licensee nor Region III is planning a press release.
The State of Michigan will be notified.
Region III (Chicago) received initial notification of this problem from the Senior Resident Inspector via telephone at 2:50 p.m. (CDT) on August 17, 1981.
