Dear Dr. Palladino,

If you have been familiarizing yourself with matters relating to Indian Point, you have, perhaps, heard about NYPIRG (the New York Public Interest Research Group, Inc.) and our efforts over the past two years to monitor developments at that facility and to affect changes in the interest of public safety. We hope that you will acquaint yourself with our position (as presented in numerous written submissions to the Comission) and thht you will permit us to meet with you at an early date so that we may communicate our concerns to you directly.

The people living in the vicinity of Indian Point have waited a very long time for some sign from the Commission that their safety is being taken seriously. Under your leadership, we hope that the Commission will demonstrate a renewed concern about our nation's most densely populated reactor site.

Because we believe that Indian Point merits your special considera-tion, we respectfully request that the enclosed submission be reviewed by the Commission itself on an expeditious basis, and not delegated to staff, which has not in the past responded with sympathy to the merits of our concerns.
