LFMB Reactor File ~(3) r ocket File Georgia Power Company ATTN: Mr. W. A. Widner, Vice President JStolz, ORB-4 and General Manager - Nuclear MFairtile, ORB-4 Generation RIngram, ORB-4 P.O. Box 4545 RMDiggs, LFMB Atlanta, Georgia 30302 LFMB R/F (2)
Genelemen:
s-Thank you for your letter dated March 26, 1981, which included payment of
$4,400 of the additional $8.300 requested in our letter dated February 20, 1981, pursuant to 10 CFR 170.22. The additional amount was for your September 15, 1980 application on TMI-2 Lessons Learned Category "A" items for your Edwin I. Hatch j-Nuclear Plant Unit Nos.1 and 2.
1 In your March 26 letter, the position was taken that the September 15 application j
proposed only two items (safety / relief valve position indication and STA) which required changes to the Technical Specifications.
Therefore, you determined that two Class III and two Class I fees were applicable in lieu of our-requested Classes IV and I fees. While your application did not propose the July 2,1980 4
requested license conditions on Integrity of Systems Outside Containment and on Iodine Monitoring, it is our understanding from staff of the Office of Nuclear l
Reactor Regulation (0NRR) that these were issues required to be addressed and were included in the Hatch license amendments issued on October 28, 1980, and the Safety Evaluation % sued with these amendments. We also unde' stand that since your Company did not propose license conditions on these two subjects, they were included in the October 28 Safety Evaluation and license amendments as a result of telephone i-conversations between members of the '0NRR ' review staff and your staff.
t Based on the above, it is the ONRR staff's position that the originally determined Classes IV and I fees are appropriate for your September 15 application. Therefore, l
it is requested that a sum of $3,900 be remitted to our office.
Sincerely, F
