PROMFT LOTIFICATION IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY - VIRGIL C. SUlttER NUCLEAR STATION 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, Secthn IV.D.3 requires applicants for nuclear power reactor licenses for power operation to demonstre'.c that administrative and physical means have been established for alerting and providing prompt instruc-tions to the public within the plume exposure EPZ in the event of an emergency.
Your verificat. ion that a peblic notification system neeting the regulations is in place is required prior to issuance of a license for power operation.
You should notify us immedistely of any problems that may preclude implementation on the required schedule. We expect that the Federal Emergency Hanagement Agency will review the adequacy of the system by evaluating the results of an actual systen operational test.
A copy of your response should be provided to Brian Grines, Director, Division of Energency Preparedness, Washington, D.C. 20555.
