Dear Mr. Kraft:
We have received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) correspondence dated December 29, 1993, transmitting the findings for the offsite emergency preparedness aspects of the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station exercise conducted on October 6, 1992.
FEMA identified no new deficiencies in the performance of offsite agencies during the October 6, 1992 exercise. However, six Areas Requiring Corrective Action (ARCA) were identified during the exercise.
Opportunities for offsite agencies to demonstrate successful corrective actions for each of the ARCAs should be planned for your next scheduled exercise.
We fully recognize that any corrective actions to be. implemented may involve parties and political institutions which are not under your direct control.
Nonetheless, we would expect the subject of offsite preparedness for the area around the (PLANT NAME) to be addressed by you as well as others.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed FEMA report will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
