Vibration and Loose Parts Monitoring System inoperability of Channel #11, Steam Generator C.

Special Repor';

On January 2, 1991 Channel #11, Steam Generator C, of the Unit 1 Loose Farts Monitor was declared INOPERABLE due to excessive noise on the channel which was causing false alarms. Work request #546850PS was written te repair the channel during a future outage (due to a containment entry being required to repair the channel) that is of sufficient length. The next Unit 1 outage is currently scheduled to begin on March 16, 1991. Channel #7 (which is the other Steam Generator C channel).is functioning and provides coverage.

Since the channel has been INOPERABLE more than 30 days, it is reportable to the NRC pursuant to Technical Specification 3.3.3.9.
