COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION REACTOR COOLANT PUMP OIL COLLECTION SYSTEM FIRE PROTECTION COMMITMENT DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 REF: TXX-3532 DATED JULY 6, 1982
Dear Mr. Denton:
CPSES has committed to install a Reactor Coolant Pump 011 Collection System (RCP0CS) as part of our fire protection requirements described in FSAR Section 9.5.1.6.1. This letter describes our design and supersedes the referenced letter on this subject.
The RCP0CS consists of several independent collection points, which together collect potential leakage, and a common drain tank for each reactor coolant pump. Therefore, the RCP0CS is, effectively, four separate subsystems. The collection piping and tanks are designed, engineered, and installed so that failure will not lead to fire during normal or design basis accident conditions and there is reasonable assurance that the system will withstand the safe shutdown earthquake.
The collection points for each pump includes:
- 1. Oil Lift System (enclosure provided)
- 2. Upper Oil Level Alarm & Gauge (partial enclosure provided)
- 3. Oil Fill and Drain Valve (catch pan provided)
- 4. Internal Splash Guard and Catch Basin (piping provided)
