SUBJECT:
LOSS OF 100 MILLICURIES OF 10 DINE-131
.On N:vember 10, 1982 at 6:30 p.m., Region I was notified by the Headquarters Duty Officer that Medical Delivery Service, Floral Park, New York, had notified the NRC that a package c:ntaining 100 millicuries of iodine-131 was missing.
The package was shipped from
- M3111ncrodt, St. Louis, Missouri, to LaGuardia airport, on November 3, 1982, where it was
. picked up by Medical Delivery Service. Medical Delivery Service had delivered the package to "Beth Israel Hospital in New York City early in the morning of the 3rd, but hospital personnel
.wera unable to find the package later that morning.
j0n Nsvember 12, 1982, Region I notified the New York State Energy Office, who notified the New Ycrk City Department of Health.
Tha New York City Department of Health has dispatched an inspector to Beth Israel Hospital to b; gin an investigation and to search for the missing package.
There has been no report of-media interest.
However, the New York City Health Department is planning to issue a press
