Re: McGuire Nuclear Station Unit 2 Docket No. 50-370 .

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

My December 10, 1982 letter submitted (pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55e) an interim i Significant Deficiency Report (SD-370/82-06) concerning ITT Barton Class lE transmitters exhibiting thermal non-repeatability, and indicated that a final report would be submitted by January 9, 1983. However, further testing by i

Barton since that report has indicated the non-repeatability problem may not be generic. in nature nor applicable to the McGuire Unit 2 transmitters, but i results are not conclusive at this time.

i Westinghouse is expecting to receive the results of Barton's investigation in early February. Duke will provide a report by February 28, 1983.

Very truly yours, '
