Team Evaluation and Independent Measurement by the.NRC at the
-Zimmer Facility This letter is to confirm the NRC's intent:to perform a team evaluation and an in-dependent measurement verification of safety related equipment at the-Zimmer facility.
The team evaluation is expected to begin on January 24, 1983 and should be completed on or about March 4, 1983. There will be fifteen (15): members of the evaluation team that will require site access and office space for the duration of the evaluation.
The independent measurements will employ the Mobile NRC NDE Van which will examine piping and structural components utilizing conventional nondestructive methods such as radiography, ultrasonics, liquid penetrant, and magnetic particle testing.
Quality -
assurance documentation associated with these components will be reviewed for com-pliance to regulatory requirements and correlation with our examinations.
-The NDE Van examinations are expected to begin on February 7,1983, and will take approximately four (4) weeks to complete. A meeting with your staff is requested during the week of January 24, 1983, to discuss such topics as site access for NRC personnel, locations of the van, van connections, work schedules, radiation safety, and construction support.
