Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. D. P. Tomlinsen and J. E. Cummins

of our staff during October 25-29, 1982, of activities authorized by NRC

Facility Operating License NPF-6 for the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 2, and to

the discussion of our findings with Mr. J. M. Levine and other members of your

staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed in the

enclosed inspection report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of

selective examination of procedures and representative records, interviews

with personnel, and observations by the inspectors.

Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were identi-

fied.

One new unresolved item is identified in paragraph 2 of this report. With

regard to this item, you are requested to provide a summary report to this

office, within 30 days from the date of this letter, on the deficiencies identi-

fied during systems walkdown inspections conducted at Arkansas Nuclear One,

Unit 2, during October 1982.

Your report should include your assessment of

the basic causes of the deficiencies, the corrective action you plan to take

to prevent recurrence of these types of deficiencies in the future, the changes

you plan to make to assure the timely processing of as-built drawings, and

the date when these actions will be completed.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosure

will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room unless you notify this office,

by telephone, within 10 days of the date of this letter and submit written

application to withhold information contained therein within 30 days of the

date of this letter.

Such application must be consistent with the

requirements of 2.790(b)(1).
