SER Outstanding Issue No. 8 Mark III Containment System Issues

Dear Mr. Schwencer:

In our letter dated August 5,1982, the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company (CEI) committed to provide the Perry program of detailed actions planned to resolve the concerns raised by Mr. John Humphrey. Attachment I tc this letter provides the Perry program for resolving each of Mr. Humphrey's concerns and addresses the specific requests for additional information transmitted in your letter dated July 14,1982.

In addition to identifying the programs for resolution, actual resolutions are provided for several of the issues. Both generic owner's group activities and plant specific analysis are identified. Where generic efforts by GE are planned to address the concerns, the results to date and details of planned analysis submitted by Mississippi Power and Light in letters dated May 28 and August 19, 1982 are applicable to Perry.

Attachment 2 to this letter summarizes the status of the work for each of the action plan items. The anticipated schedules identified for each item are for completion of the engineering analysis required for resolution. CEI intends to compile the results of the program and submit a final report by January 17, 1983.

Based upon these responses and action plans, CEI believes that this constitutes an appropriate program for providing resolutions to Mr. Humphrey's concerns. If you need any clarification of our program, please contact me.

Very truly yours, Dalwyn . Davidson Vice President System Engineering and Construction O I cc: J. Silberg. Esq.
