H. C. Dance Gentlemen:

The Georgia Power Company wishes to submit the following information concerning the violations discussed in your inspection report 50-424/82-16 and 50-425/82-16.

We concur with the finding identified concerning failure to perform periodic maintenance of equipment within the specified maintenance period.

The reason for the violation was removal of the maintenance report cards from the active file in order to reformat and revise the card entries.

These cards were held inactive through some of the scheduled maintenance intervals because of the amount of revisions required.

The appropriate maintenance cards for items 2-1604-QS-PS1 and 2-1604-QS-PS4 have been revised and returned to the active inspection and maintenance program.

Desk top instructions have been prepared to ensure that we have more efficient revision control of changes within the inspec-tion and maintenance program. A special quality control inspection was conducted to assess the current condition of this equipment. This inspec-tion identified no adverse findings.

To avoid future violations in this area, we have stopped the practice of " wholesale" retrieval of maintenance report cards from the active program to make card revisions. Cards will be removed from the program on a limited basis and will be returned to the active file prior to any inspection and/or maintenance requirements due date.

Full compliance was achieved on August 6,1982.
