Thank you for your letter dated September 11, 1978, informing us of the steps you have taken to correct the noncompliance and the review of the adequacy of the weld repair identified in our letter dated August 22, 1978.
Relative to item 1 of the noncompliance we feel that at the time the weld repair was performed, a special maintenance procedure was required. This would have identified that a hydrostatic test of the valve was required. However, with the implementation of the formal program for retest of equipment following maintenance described in your letter, we would agree that a special maintenance procedure is not required for this type maintencnce in the future.
Relative to I
item 2 of the noncompliance and other changes you have made to assure retest requirements are identified and completed, we will examine your corrective action during a future inspection.
