This acceptance review will determine if the application is in compliance with the requirements of 10 CFR 52.47.

It is not intended to be a detailed technical review but rather a check to verify that the appropriate scope of material has been provided.

It appears that a number of Technology Transfer Reports and dated Canadian Standards Association standards have been referenced in the application.

If any of these have not been submitted to the NRC, please provide them to support your application as soon as possible.

The NRC staff expects to complete the CANDU 3U application acceptance review I

by November 30, 1994, and will notify AECLT of the total scope of identified deficiencies at the time.

As you know, in conjunction with the acceptance review, we are also re-

examining the cost and schedule estimates contained in SECY-94-079, " Schedule l

and Resource Estimates for CANDU 3 Design Certification Review," dated March 24, 1994.
