Notice is hereby given that by letter of August 10, 1994, Ted Dougherty requested that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Commission) shut down and dismantle the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. As basis for the request, the Petitioner encloses (1) his recent letter to the Governor' of l

California wherein he expresses his concerns regarding the vulnerability of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station to earthquakes due to the existence of nearby fault lines and (2) a recent Los Angeles Times article concerning l

the threat of vehicle bombs and the Commission's recent rule requiring nuclear l

generating plants to install anti-terrorist barriers within 18 months.

The request is being treated pursuant to 10 CFR f 2.206 of the Commission's regulations. As provided by Section 2.206, appropriate action l

will be taken on this request within a reasonable time.
