Dear Sir:
The purpose of this letter in to request a meeting with the 11RC to discuss Philadelphia Electric Company's (PUCo's) plan to addrous the implications of recent cable tailures at Peach bottom Atomic Power Station (PbAPS), Units 2 and 3 on similar uite installations.
Teleconferences were held betwoon PEco and utalf members of both Region I and tiRR on May 1, 1991, and May 14, 1991, to discuss cable insulation fallureu in the power feed from the lio. 2 Emergency Auxiliary Transformer to the 4kV bus duct.
This non-safety related power feed is one of two independent offsite power cources to the safety related 4kV uwitchgeur.
In these telephone discussions, PECo provided information related to the failures, their suspected cause, the immediate corrective actions and optionu being considered for the future to address other safety related installations of cable with the same type of insulation.
The details of the tailures were provided in Licensee Event Hoport 2-91-09.
Our technical reviews concerning the implleationu of the cable failures that have occurred have concluded that PBAPS can safely continue to operate until the implementation of actions during the Fall 1991 Refuel Outage.
