Suppressi6n Pool Temperature Limit I

During safety / relief valve oper'ation, steam quenching instability occurs when the suppressio,n pool water is at an elevated temperature and,, induces severe vibratory loa,ds on containment structures.

To avoid the vibratory ' 'r loads, the suppression pool should be. limited below a certain temperature Ihreshold.

GE has proposed a 160 F temperature limit for the suppression pool..

\\.8 The General Electric Company submitted the topical report flEDE-21078-P,

" Test Results Employed by GE for BWR Containment and Vertical Vent loads,"

to support the proposed pool temperature limit.

We believe that your plant intends to follow the GE recommendation Therefore, the following f
