Dear Mr. Tauber:

Subject:

Site Verification Visit for the Environmental Qualification of Electrical Equipment for Fermi-2 On July 27, 1983, we docketed the submittal of your three-volume report on the environmental qualification for the Femi-2 facility of safety-related electrical equipment in a harsh environment, dated July 19, 1983.

In your transmittal letter, you indicated that you were expecting a site verification visit by the staff from the Environmental Qualification Branch during the last part of July, or in August 1983. This expectation was based on two conversations in mid-June

'1983 between the Femi-2 Project Manager, the assigned EQB' reviewer and the EQB Section Leader representing the staff and Mr. Schuerman representing Detmit Edison. However, in both discussions, it was agreed that the tentative schedule cited above for the EQB site visit was predicated on submittal of this report on July 1,1983, or. shortly thereafter.

In view of the lateness of your submittal, the audit cannot be performed on the schedule to which we previously agreed. We wil1 ~have to rcevaluate the availability of staff personnel and the relative review priorities in the Environmental Qualification Branch before we can confirm a date for the EQB site visit.

If you have any questions on this matter, please contact the Fermi-2 Project Manager, M. D. Lynch, at 301/492-7050.

Sincerely, r
