Pressurizer Relief Valve April 5, 1979 j,,......._......
Please review the following proposed operating instruction; if you concur please have this procedure implemented for all operating reactors.
-Upon receipt of an ESFAS signal or a low reactor coolant systc:a pressure of 1600 psig. the operator should iz:nediately isolate the block isolation valve upstream of the pressurizer pilot operated relief valve. -
At a later date all operating rencoors should caka a syste:a design modifica-tion to isolate the block valve automatically using either a low reactor coolant system pressure signal or an ESFAS signal All backlog ecatracts abould also make a design change to auto =atically '
.O isolate the bioct va1ve ust=> ESrRS sinnais. secause the ne = >1a =s cust comply with Reg. Cuide 1.75 IE to non-1E isolation, the block valve should recieve 2 buffered ISTAS outputs in a fashion similar to the turbine stop valve signals.
D. C. Newton is requested to issue a CI/A to imple=ent this change.
