DeVoung inspection and Enforcement Bulletin No. 83-03 concerns check value failures in raw attter cooling systems of diesel generators. At Nine Mile Point Un<i.t M1 there are two emergency diesel generators, #102 and W103 each having two Chapman-Crane 4 inch stcing check valves, no. 72-69,,
67 and 72-68, 6S respectively. Check values 72-69 and 68 are downstream of each pump. Check valves 72-67 and 66 are downstream of the diesel generators. Check valves 12-68 and 69 were dhassembled, inspeeted, then reassembled after finding both valves, including internals, in satisfactory physical and operating condition. The integrity of the valves 72-66 and 67 tais proven during a fomoard and reverse flow test. These values teilt be tested fortatrd and reverse on a quarterly basis during surveillance tests. Dbassembly and inspection of valves 72-68 and 69 taitt be performed once cach refueting outage.
The IST ptogram and procedures tcitt be revhed by November 1983 to incorporate the testing and dhassembly as pteviously stated.
There is no history af partial or total disassembty of valve internah and no history of fallure.
