Interim 10CFR50.55(e) Report; Service Water and Circulating Water Pump House Structural Inadequacy l
Dear Sir:
On April 19, 1983, a reportable 10CFR50.55(e) item was reported
[ Reference (b)] regarding a deficiency in the structural design of the reinforced concrete walls separating pump cells in the Category I service water and circulating water pump house.
The deficiency involves an overstressing of the pump house walls due to forces associated with differences in water levels in adjacent cells when one of these cells is dewatered for maintenance.
A detailed engineering evaluation of the pump house structure is underway.
The results of the evaluation are scheduled to be completed by July 22, 1983 at which time a final report on this subject will be submitted.
This letter is being filed pursuant to the interim reporting provision of 10CFR50.55(e)(3).
