ZIMMER NUCLEAR POWER STATION - UNIT 1 NOTICE OF VIOLATION, NRC INSPECTION REPORT 82-10 W.O.
57300, JOB E-5590, FILE NO. 956C, IR 82-10 By letter dated March 25, 1983, you transmitted to The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company (CG&E) a " Notice of Violation" for four items of alleged noncompliance cited in Inspection Report 82-10.
The notice provided that pursuant to the provisions of 10CFR2.201, CG&E should submit its response to your office within thirty days of the date of the notice.
Your letter also stated that consideration would be given to extending the response time for good cause shown.
The purpose of this letter is to request that the time for responding to the notice be extended forty-five days until June 9,
1983 for the following reasons.
As you know, your staff was engaged in the inspection underlying the report for over two months.
The report is quite extensive and cites in excess of thirty-two documents reviewed during the inspection which were used to support the findings contained therein.
Since the specifics of the report were not known in detail to CG&E and the principal contractor invclved, the Henry J.
Kaiser Company, until its publication, only a limited amount of work on the preparation of our response could be undertaken.
Your letter also requests that we review any previous similar findings and provide assurance that corrective actions taken are adequate to remedy the root or generic cause of the problems.

Since receiving the report, CG&E and the Henry J.
Kaiser Company have been diligently working to develop specific information for our response.
As a result of this preliminary review, it is clear that additional ~ time will be required to evaluate many of the matters identified in the notice develop a program to correct the causes-of these problems, and complete the response.
t We are ' carefully reviewing the notice and inspection report in order to assure our response properly deals with all aspects of ' the items identified.
We cannot give such a response in the relatively short time provided, given the detail and breadth of the report.
He would' appreciate hearing from you as soon as possible on this matter.
.Very truly yours, THE CINCINNATI GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY By E.A.
