20555 Attention:

Ms. E. G. Adensam, Chief Licensing Branch No. 4 Re: McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Nos. 50-369, 50-370

Dear Mr. Denton:

Our letter of April 18, 1983 contained a report on the reactor trip breakers (RTB) for McGuire. This report included a discussion of RTB problems. One problem was identified, however, which was not contained in the report but was discussed in the April 19, 1983 meeting with the NRC staff.

During investigative testing on March 31, 1983, Unit 1 train B RTB was found to have no gap between the undervol-tage device trip arm and the breaker trip shaft pin.

This problem was similar to one discovered on March 19, 1983 on Unit 1 train A RTB and reported in our April 18, 1983 letter. As stated in that letter, the proper gaps have since been veri-fied for all McGuire RTB's.

We regret any inconvenience caused by this inadvertent omission from the April 18, 1983 letter.

Very truly yours, C gX$4x Hal B. Tuckcr REH:jfw cc:
