-Deputy General Counsel Department of Health The City of New York 65 Worth Street IN RESPONSE REFER New York, NY 10013 TO F01A-82-431
Dear-Mr. Sharison:
This is in response to your letter dated September 14, 1982, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, copies of all documents relating to a shipment of radioactive material manufactured by General Electric at Wilmington, N.C., transported by Tri-State Motor Transit, which traveled through the City of New York on or about July 25, 1982, and was received at the Shoreham Nuclear Plant.
Enclosed are 19 DOE /NRC Form 741 and one handwritten note.
For your information, the shipment of " radioactive material" referred to was low enriched uranium fuel (with a very low radioactivity level).
The General Electric facility in Wilmington, North Carolina is licensed to possess and process low enriched uranium, but is not licensed to possess high enriched uranium or plutonium.
The processing activities at the General Electric, Wilmington plant do not give rise to any highly radioactive materials.
This completes action on your request.
