. Technical Specification Amendment Fire Protection Requirements

Dear Sir:

Attached are proposed license amendments to Facility Operating Licenses NPF-35 and NPF-52 for Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 respectively.

The' proposed changes relocate all Fire Protection related-requirements from Technical Specifications to the Catawba FSAR while adding the Fire Protection Program to those items included in Specifications 6.5,1 and 6.8.1. This change was prepared according to the guidance given in ,

' Generic Letter 88-12.  ;

Attachment I contains the proposed revision to the Catawba Technical Specifications. Attachment II contains the proposed revision to the Catawba FSAR. This FSAR revision includes the new Chapter 16.0,. Selected Licensee Commitmants. The complete Table of. Contents and the Applicability section have been included for clarity, since the manual has

-not been issued yet for Catawba. -Attachment III contains a discussion of

,the justification and a no significant llazards Analysis. It has been concluded that the proposed amendment does not involve significant hazards considerations, s

Due to the large number of station procedures affected by this amendment, we are requesting that it become effective 30 days after issuance.

Y -Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.91 (b)(1) the appropriate South Carolina State Official is being provided a copy of this amendment request.
