Pegulatory Guide (R.G.) 1.97 and 10 CFR 50.49 require that neutron flux be monitored by Category 1: instrumentation. The staff has' allowed BWRs to operate with existing instrumentation until instrumentation was developed that-conforms to the requirements of 10 CFR 50.49 and the associated R.G. 1.97.

The instrumentation is now available.

Therefore, all licensees must make arrangements to install neutron flux monitoring instrumentation that conforms to the requirements of 10 CFR 50.49 and R.G.
