15 VOICE:

(Telephone conversation.)

Good afternoon.

16 This is the Commission.

(Pause.]

Yeah, high.

(Pause.)

17 Pretty well.

(Pause.]

Uh-huh.

(Pause.)

Well -- yes.

I-18

- (Pause.]

And I know the topic.

As you can tell, it's not 19 something. that.I just jumped into and something I followed 20 very closely.

(Pause.]

Yeah.

Yeah.

Well -- (laughter.)

21 I know that.

I'm also an editor, you know -- anyway, I get 22' a lot of stuff in, and I get a lot of back-up naterial as 23 well sometime.

(Pause.)

Well, not really.

It's just boon 24 oser a period of time, you know, fortunately, I guess, and 25 some time, I can tell you some other stories in terms of

c 6

1-time I've put in doing some other things.

r 2

This is an area -- well', let's see.

I think it 3.

was probably some background on it involvn.3 the original 4

test back in these-(inaudible] in January, $87, I think, so 5

you know it's nothing really new, and it's an issue I've 6'

been following.

You know, I have-my own feelings and Certainly, it's important to do a (inaudible) job' 7

concerns.

8 in terms of research.

(Pause.)

9 I-don't know the best way to proceed.

I would-10

,think it would be good to have something the equivalent of 11 the questionnaire I sent out in a box or coupon or 12 something.

13 Now, I was thinking about this.

Now, as I say, I 14 went over to the beach, you know, for lunch, and I probably 15 still want to go ahead with some type of a random mail 16 survey of people in town every tenth or every 20th or 17 something, because, you know, who knows who your readers 18 are, and I'm'sure -- you're -- I think, in one of the 19 articles, you might have read the reaction PS&H to that 20 survey.

They said -- yeah, go ahead.

(Pause.]

Uh-huh.

21 Well, I don't know an awful lot.

I'm a professional, but I 22 haven't -- you know, I've been out of it for a while.

Yeah.

j 23 Right.

Sure.

(Pause.]

24 Right.

Or thinking about doing it.

Exactly.

Or 25 a random plus phone call (inaudible)"for who knows what, 1

l

f3 7

1-yeah, and then let you know.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

~

2 (Pause.)

right.. Okay.

You know, that'd be fine.

3 I think -- what I did, I looked at the paper as an 4

option in terms of trying to get a questionnaire, rather

- 5 than, the other hand, I-know immediately, you know, they_

6-would say, as probably I would say, "What's the validity?"

7' You know, the union leader from time to time will 8

have polls, or they will have -- well, they might call them-9 polls, or they'll have -- or some of the radio stations will 10.

do it.

There's no validity whatsoever -- I mean, self-11 selective -- whereas a survey, you know, if I'm going to 12 every tenth or every 20th, I'm bound to get people in favor 13 as opposed to those people that are against, and -- (pauso) 14

-- You know, which I'll probably do on Monday, in other 15-words, send something out Monday and whatever, and maybe 16-have -- (pause.]

Well, or even a week, hopefully, yeah, 17 whatever.

(Pause.)

Yeah.

Right.

Right.

(Pause.)

Right.

18-Right.

[ Pause.]

19 In fact, I think, in looking at the --

20 VOICE:

That's part of the LC.

21 VOICE:

(Telephone conversation)

-- what we have, 22 you probably may have noticed that --

23 VOICE:

As I was supposed to back in January '88, when 6

I was arrested, I think there was something perhaps in on 7

that, right?

In fact, that's one of the reasons I did the 8-survey, because I was_ excluded.

9 At any rate --

10 VOICE:

Silent test, please clear.

Right.

Whatever it is, l

9 yeah.

Yeah.

[ Pause.)

Yeah.

Yeah, Yeah.

Yeah.

L 10 And I think you'll' find the results interesting.

~11 You can see from what we got in these King studies, you 12 know, it's amazing what people think, how they think of the 13 reactor.

And also, I_think amazing that most people, as I 14 recall the results -- I haven't looked at them recently --

15 did not hear the test.

Even'if they're in a car, if they 16 have the windows up, right, they don't hear.

17 In fact, I met somebody at the library who's, 18 what, her husband's a selectman in Bretwitt, and she.said 19-the test they had recently in Bretwitt, he was involved in 1

h 20 the test, so she knew what was going on, and she didn't hear 21 the test at all.

Wherever she lived, they didn't ask her 22 how close to the siren she was, but, you knov, that's an 23 example.

24 So, anyway, I'll put some things togethe- :mi get 25 back to you.

I printed it out, but I haven't s

(Pause.)' Were you 12 able to, or -- yeah, yeah, yeah.

So -- and it really 13 doesn't matter.

I mean, you know, if we say Monday and then 14 the only people that really have to know are the members of 15 the committee anyway -- (pause).

Sure, so -- (pause.)

I 16 was able to print that letter for-the Stephens, and it looks L

17 good in the Zaff Chancellery whatever.

18 So -- now, I only -- do you want me to do several 1

21 IPoure.]

What I will do is proof it first, though, just to L

22 make sure.

I think you had it in -- it was in Pagemaker, 23 right, so I can't really print it the way it is other than L

24 visually proofing it, but that's another call.

I'll have to 25 take that, okay?
