Response to Exercise Weakness Exercise Weakness 50-369, 370/89-39-01 The. Shift Supervisor failed to demonstrate the responsibilities ~of Emergency Coordinator.
Response
Duke Power Company believes that this is an isolated case and is not representative of our ability to respond during emergency conditions or exercises. The Shift Supervisor in question had-been recently promoted to that-position and was inexperienced at the time of this incident. He had not had the opportunity to serve.in that capacity under actual drill conditions and his performance-is not representative of Shift Supervisors.
Shortly after the drill the individual involved was counseled.on-the command ~
and control function of the Shift Supervisor during: emergencies.

'McGuire will continue to provide training on the command and control functions of the Shift Supervisor during requalification training and evaluation. We also will continue to incorporate these functions into the ongoing simulator training and' evaluation process.
'Upon release of: Examiner Standard 0601, Revision 6, which is scheduled to be
. released by June,--1990, we will evaluate the guidance relating to the.
command and1 control function and revise our program as appropriate.
