Docket No. 50-346' Toledo Edison Company Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station ATTN:
R. A. Simpkins Training Department h
5501 North State, Route 2 Dak' Harbor, OH 43449
Dear Mr. Simpkins:
[
SUBJECT:
COMl1ENTS ON STATIC SIMULATOR SCENARIOS 1.
Ensure that the same information is available on all of the scenarios, a.
Each scenario must have the same charts.
If a chart applies to only one scenario it must be in all the scenarios packages. Both scenarios supplied to be reviewed had the same charts, b.
Parameters given must be the same on all the scenarios. Scenario 1 has NORM MU FLOW, ALT MU FLOW, AFW FLO 1 & 2 and SCM CHANNEL 1 & 2 while Scenario 2 has RC LOW RANGE PRESS; which the other scenario does not have. One of the questions for Scenario 2 states that SCM are 000-if this is the case then it should be marked as 000 or a bad value should be given in the parameter list.
c.
Equipment status must be the same for all the scenarios. Scenario 1 has EIAC, SW pump 1 & 2 that are not on Scenario 2.
Also equipment must have the same information available on all the scenarios. EDG has ON or 900 RPM on different scenarios-should be consistent, if both of these indications are available then both should be given for all scenarios, i
2.
Why is data given on both a chart and in the parameter list?
~
a.
It seems that if a chart exists then it should be used for reference by the operators as it would be used in the control room.
3.
Equipment Status listing.
a.
What does ON or 0FF refer to? It seems that it would be better to give-the indications that are available on the control board such as, SWITCH POSITION, LIGHT INDICATORS, A!!PS, etc. for the equipment i
listed.

4.
The Static Simulator examination must consist of at least 1 AT-POWER and 1 ESFAS initiation scenarios. Both scenarios supplied were NOT AT-POWER type scenarios. Must ensure that AT-POWER scenarios are available.
5.
As time is available the specific questions and JPM's that you supplied with the scenarios will be reviewed.
6.
If you have any questions or problems, please contact D. Shepard at (708) 790-5684 or if he is not available either Tim Reidinger (ext. 551) or Tom Burdick (ext. 566).
