Electric & Gas Company, dated June 29, 1987, the NRC transmitted a Draft Safety Evaluation (DSE regarding the V. C. Sumner Nuclear Station, Unit No.1, (Summer) Procedures Generation Package (PGP) which had been submitted in a July 30, 1984 letter. The DSE identified inadequacies associated with the Summer PGP. These inadequacies were in areas associated with: (1) plant specific technical guioelines; (2) writer's guide; (3) verification and validation program; and (4) training program.

The DSE indicated that the Summer PGP needed to be revised to address these inadequacies.

This DSE should now be considered the final SE.

If you have not alreaty done

so, you should revise your PGP to reflect the concerns identified in the DSE or ~

provide justification for why such revision is not necessary.

This revision and/or justification need not be submitted, but should be retained for subsequent review by the NRC staff. This SE closes our TAC No. 55344, and the staff's review-of this letter, i
