This refers to the inspection conducted by Dr. J. B. Nicholas of this office

during' the _ period November 13-17, 1989, of activities authorized by NRC

' Construction Permits.CPPR-126 and CPPR-127 for Comanche Peak Steam Electric

' Station,Junits'I'and'2', and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. C. B.

Hogg and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection on

,

November 17, 1989.

- Areas examined during this preoperational inspection included the-liquid and

gaseous radioactive waste systems,.. radioactive waste management program, water

chemistry and radiochemistry programs, and plant systems affecting plant water

s

-chemistry. Within;these areas, the inspection consisted of selective-

examination-of procedures and representative records. interviews with

= personnel, and observations by the inspector. The inspection findings are

1 documented;in the' enclosed inspection report.

. Within :the l scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations 5:ere

' identified.

We have also examined actions you have taken with regard to previously

identified inspection findings. The st-tus of these items is identified in

paragraph 2-of the enclosed. report.
