Subj ect: Docket No. 50-362 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 3 This letter confirms verbal notification on Sep-tember 15, 1981, of a condition discoverrd in construction which is considered reportable in accordance with 10CFR50.-

55 (e) . This condition involves pipe support material certified by a material supplier to be 304 stainless steel but determined actually after receipt at the jobsite to be Inconel 718 alloy.

We are performing an evaluation of this condition and will submit a report in accordance with 10CFR50.55(e)(3) .
