This letter is the second in a series of quarterly reports to you regarding the construction con.pletion date for Byron Unit 1.

The Byron 1 construction and testing schedule is still keyed to fuel loading in April, 1983.

The schedule identifies a large number of specific events which must occur prior to fuel load.

Attachment A to this letter indicates the status of Byron 1 as of September 1, 1981, in terms of the scheduled events.

No critical dates have been passed in completing the construction and testing necessary to support the April, 1983, fuel load date.

Please address further questions regarding the Byron 1 schedule to this office.

Very truly yours, L. O. DelGeorge Director of Nuclear Licensing im 3ool
