N PHIPPS BEND NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 1 - REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY - RPV SHROUD HEAD AND MOISTURE SEPARATOR ASSEMBLY FIRE (NCR PBNP-106)
Initial notification of the subject deficiency was made to NRC-01E, Region II, Inspector R. W. WriFht on June 13, 1980. The final report was submitted on December 19, 1980. As requested in Phipps Bend Inspection Report Nos. 50-553/81-01 and 50-554/81-01, and as committed to in my letter to you dated May 21, 1981, we are enclosing a followup report on our cleanup actions to date. TVA anticipates transmitting additional information on er before January 7, 1982.

July 31, 1981, which met _the commitment made in Report No.4 The shro d head assembly will remain in the facility erected for the clean"r operation and, at least for the present, will not be relocated t'or storage purposes. General Electric personnel in Atlanta are reviewing documentation generated during the cleanup operation which will be forwarded to VSL and then to TVA.
The unit 2 shroud head assembly was received at Phipps Bend and placed in storage on July 11, 1981. There were no problems experienced with the unit 2 shroud head move.
Nonconformance report (NCR) PBNP-106 and Quality Control Investigation Report (QCIR) 21033 were closed on August 11, 1981. No further actions are required. TVA anticipates supplying you with additional information regarding GE's documentation review on or before January 7, 1982.
