Gentlemen:
You requested notification upon compl> -ion of the Limerick Spray Pond excavation in your November 11, 1976 letter from K. Knell, Chief Light Water Reactors, to E. G. Bauer, Jr., Philadelphia Electric Company.
This is to confirm the telephone conversation on August 31, 1981, between D. Calkins, US NRC and D. Clohecy, PECo. The spray pond excavation work will be completed in sections, rather than as a whole. Our Contractor has scheduled a Geologic examination of rock in the first quadrant for September 15, 1981.
This rock will support foundaticas for one of the spray networks. The Contractor is planning to cover the rock with a concrete pad to provide a working surface witnin a few days following a successful geologic examination. Another geologic examination is planned some time in October for other Spray Pond areas.
Subsequent to t1e above conversation, you confirmed that a Staff Hydrologist and Geologist will visit the site on September 10, 1981 to conduct an inspection of a section of the spray pond. Accordingly, our Contractor has re-scleduled his geologic examination of the rock for September 10 and will be available to assist your personnel.
