I explained our need to have as much of the information as soon as possible in order to prepare and file fol]ow-up discovery to the extent necessary. However, in order to accommodai.e your request and also to assure that Joint Intervenors would not, as a result, be deprived of the opportunity to submit further interr:gatories or I other discovery requests based on PGandE's responses once received by us, I proposed a compromise which would allow PGandE until September 19 to respond and, at the same time, protect Joint Intervenors' interest in adequate discovery. That propcsal was rejected by you. Therefore, I will expect PGandE's responses to our First Set of Interrogatories to be served no later than September 2, 1981. Very truly yours, J el R.
