PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF A CIVIL PENALTY - $50,000 This is to inform the Commission that a Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of a Civil Penalty in the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars will be issued on or about September 2,1981, to the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, Syracuse, New York.
This action is based on an alleged violation relating to the bypassing of isolation signals, designed to limit the release of radioactive materials in the event of an accident, in violation of a technical specification limiting condition for opera-tion.
A news release has been prepared and will be issued about the time the licensee receives the Notice. The State of New York will be notified.
