This docunent supports the findings of the staff safety evaluation of Topic VIII-3.B and reconrends rodifications to the dc systems.
The need to actually implerent these changes will be determined during the integrated safety assesscent. This safety evaluation nay be revioed in the future 'f your facility design is changed or if 'iRC criteria relating to this topic are rodified before the integrated assessrent is completed.

INTRODUCTION To assure the design adequacy of the dc power system battery and bus voltage monitoring and annunciation schemes such that the operator can (1) prevent the loss of an emergency dc bus; or (2) take timely correc-tive action in the event of loss of an emergen'cy dc bus, we reviewed the dc power system battery, battery charger, and bus voltage monitoring and annunciation design with respect to dc power system operability status indication to the operator.

REVIEW CRITERIA The review cr.teria are presented in Section 2 of EG&G Report 1349F, "DC Power System Bus Voltage Monitoring and Annunciation."

EVALUATION As noted in EG&G Report 1349F the Yankee Rowe control room has no indication
'of dc bus voltage, battery current, battery charger current, or breaker / fuse status.
Therefore, the Yankee Rowe dc power system monitoring is not in compliance with current licensing criteria.
VI.
CONCLUSION The staff proposes that as a minimum, the following additional indications and alarms of the Class lE dc power system (s) status shall be provided in the control room.
