p By a letter dated February 26, 1981, we requested additional information on the fire protection design at the Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station, Unit 1 and 2.

Power Systems Branch Question 040.139 requested detailed information on all essential and associated electrical cables which support redundant safe shutdown systems. This letter is to advise you that the staff no longer requires a response in the level of detail requested by Question 040.139, and s withdrawing this question. The staff conducts an evaluation of separar. ion and independence between redundant electrical trains to critcria given in Branch Technical Position ASil 9.5-1 of the NRC Standard Review Plan and Appendix R to 15 CFR Part 50. The staff concludes that its review to the above criterialis adequate.

We note that the FSAR implies the response to Question 040.108 will be included in the response to Question 040.139.

In view of the above withdrawal of Question 040.139, the staff will require a complete and adequate response to Question 040.103.

l Please amend your FSAR to include the information requested in Question 040.108.

Should you have questions concerning this matter please contact us.

Sincerely, Oristnal gened br t
