Event Description

During surveillance testing, torus atmosphere sampling line isolation valve SV-8108A would not close.

Redundant isolation valve SV-8107A was~ ope able and was placed in the closed position complying with Tech. Spec. 3.7.D.2.

i No previous similar occurrences with SV-8108A have been recorded.

Cause Description Solenoid Valve SV-8108A nonclosure was caused by rust in the mechanical portion I

of the solenoid which impeded proper solenoid orcration.

Corrective Action

The solenoid was diamantled and cleaned. SV-8108A was then tested and found cat-isfactory.

SV-8108A is a Target Rock model 72V-003 solenoid valve. A representative sample of similar valves will be inspected to determine if this problem is generic in nature. This inspection will be repeated in approximately six months to determine if the. problem is recurring.
